Kinglass Centre Repurposing Works

Building works are underway to repurpose what were the Council’s Social Service offices within the Kinglass Centre.
Falkirk Council’s Education Services are repurposing the Council’s operating space into an Early Years Nursery facility.
The Health Board lease the Practice area from Falkirk Council and the Practice lease from the Health Board. Both the Health Board and the Practice tried to get explicit information shared with them regarding the repurposing works but only learned more about the build immediately prior to it starting.
A planning application was submitted in March 2020 and approved in June 2020. Neither the Practice nor the Health Board were aware of the documents submitted as part of this application or were asked for comments.
The Practice has never opposed the Council’s intentions in principle but we had always communicated that we wished to review the technical plans once completed and to discuss an impact assessment. This has never happened.
Disappointingly, we do not feel the Council are consulting appropriately with the Practice or the Health Board given our historically shared occupancy in the building and the nature of our community healthcare operations. We are working with the Health Board to address this.
Meanwhile, the Practice sincerely apologises in advance for any inconvenience our service users may experience when accessing the car parking facilities or if in the building in the foreseeable future.
As an NHS service user, any concerns you may have about the repurposing at this site can be made directly to NHS Forth Valley Health Board.
The main contractor for the works will be the Hadden Group. Any site related Health and Safety concerns can be directed to the Hadden Group or to Falkirk Council who have commissioned the work.
Please contact Falkirk Council directly regarding planning decision queries.
